To begin the game, each player takes 5 Drain cards and 5 Energy Cards. These cards are easily identifiable as they have gold borders. Shuffle these 10 starter cards together to form each players deck. There are two variants of playing the game: community mode and individual mode.
If you're playing community mode, there is one central shop deck that is constructed ahead of time. This shop deck is shared between all players. Shuffle the shop deck thoroughly and put the deck within arms reach of all players.
Put 'always available' cards within arms reach of all players. These cards have a silver border. The "Trash" and "Dumpster" cards cannot be purchased.
Flip over the top 5 cards of the shop deck to create the shop that all players will buy from during their turn.
Put all tokens off to the side of the play area to be used during the game.
All players draw their initial hand consisting of 5 starter cards.
The game is now ready to be played.
If you're playing individual mode, there are multiple shop decks that each player brings to the game. These shops will only be available to the player that brought them. All cards that interact with the shop will interact with your personal shop only, unless otherwise stated.
Put 'always available' cards within arms reach of all players. These cards have a silver border. The "Trash" and "Dumpster" cards cannot be purchased.
Flip over the top 5 cards of each individual shop deck that each individual will buy form during their turn.
Put tokens off to the side of the play area to be used during the game.
All players draw their initial hand consisting of 5 starter cards.
The game is now ready to be played.
During your turn, you can play cards from you hand in any order. All cards must be played but order does matter. There are cards in this game that depend on the order a player plays them. In the shop you're using, you see many cards all with different costs associated with them in the top right corner. These costs can be played using energy that is gained through various cards. When you buy a card, it is put into your discard pile unless otherwise stated by the card. Once you declare your turn is over, move all non-permanent cards you played to your discard pile and draw 5 cards for a new hand. Once you have a new hand, play will continue with the player to your left.
You win when all your opponents reach 0 life or when you reach 80 life. In game where there are more than 2 players, you still win when you reach 80 life.
You may construct your shop deck to have as many cards as you like ahead of the game. The only limitations you have is that there are at most 4 copies of any individual card in the deck. This rule is subject to change and I am actively looking for feedback on this rule. Perhaps a limitation on the number of cards with a cost of 1 or 2 or 3 etc. For instance, a max of 5 copies of any individual 1 cost card, a max of 4 copies of any individual 3 cost card and so forth. In addition to this, maybe we restrict the total number of 1, 2, 3, ... cost cards in any shop deck. Let me know!
Like a typical deck builder when your deck or the shop deck reaches 0 cards, shuffle your discard pile thoroughly. This discard pile becomes your new deck/shop deck.
